Etching is a printmaking process that dates back 500 years. The etching process involves sheets of metal, usually made of copper or zinc, and acid used to etch the print onto the metal. The artist can use complicated methods to create different effects, but always relies on acid to etch the plate. The more complicated the etching, the more time consuming and expensive it will be.

The FF4

In our enterprise class we have been put into groups and given the task of making a profit on something we purchase at auction. EBay is probably the medium we will use to list the object for sale. Our group consists of Craig, John, Michael and Karen. Another of our tasks was to come up with a name for our group. We want a name that is; original, memorable, inventive, sparkled, tongue twisting and ingenious. We believe that “Renar Valdtaktsman” tick all of these boxes. Contrary to popular belief, Renar Valdtaktsman is a European translation for two parts of a mammal anatomy. He isn’t the guy that plays for Aalborg. Unfortunately we had to change this and decided upon FF4.
The group leader and the product we are going to pick up at auction is not yet been decided on. So far we have looked at 19th century Irish silver medal. It is priced at £165 which could be pretty steep. We also have to consider what sort of things generally makes a profit on eBay. For example; clothes, collectables, electronics, prints, books and so on. How much we will be given to go to auction with has not yet been decided. What sort of budget we are given in class will determine what sort of goods we can go looking for at auction.
